Weber Portable Gas Grills
61Portable Grill, A must have
We spend a lot of time at the coast camping and fishing. Portable gas grills are a must have at the campground for all types of cooking. We have used the charcoal grills in the past and they may have a place. But the Weber go anywhere gas grill is the most convenient and simple solution we have found. All you need is the grill and a few of those miniature propane cylinders. One cylinder will last several cookouts. We also have a hose and adapter to attach our grill to a large propane bottle for those days when the grill will be getting a lot of use.
The Weber grill is so popular in our campground that it will serve multiple duties. Steaks and hamburgers, and hot dogs go right on the grill. Salmon or tuna get placed on a sheet of tin foil placed over the grill. Oysters in the shell are placed right on the grill and when they open, the top shell is removed and cheese and sauce added to taste.
The reason food tastes so good using this grill is the Flavor Plate. It is a metal plate below the actual grill that covers the flame diffuser. Juices from steaks and burgers fall to this plate and the smoke and sometimes flames further flavors the meat.
The grill heats up fast and cooking with it is a breeze. We leave it out on the picnic table the whole weekend as other members of our group regularly use it.

Cleaning and storage
To clean the grill after use, I usually just scrape the "stuff" off the flavor plate and grill and dump that into the camp fire. If we have used the grill for oysters, I will also hose it down real well with the hose. The salt from the oysters will shorten the life of your grill.
If it has been a long weekend of hard use, I will disassemble it and use soap and water on all the surfaces except the grill surface itself. Wire brushing is more than enough to clean it and the residual film of cooking grease serves as protection against rust.
I keep the grill in the original box. The legs fold up over the top, keeping the grill closed when not in use and the original cardboard box keeps everything clean. Storage in the original box leaves room for a grill brush and other utensils specifically used with the grill.
