Website Building Nightmares

So my fishing website is not moving along very well. The basic problem is lack of knowledge and ignorance on my part as to how to do all of the things I want to do. I have a lot of content in my head that I want to start adding but the basic problem is just laying out the website. Working with Word Press is a nightmare for me. I am old and stupid and slow and the learning curve is very frustration. My daughter (who is smart) worked with me (her daddy who is dumb)  a few hours last week. We tried to put up a calendar. That is really hard if you want to put one up that is full page and allows you to insert stuff and highlight dates. So far no calendar. Next week she will figure it out for me.

 I am trying to do what I think is simple. I want a category titled Equipment. Under Equipment I want other categories such as rods and reels. And under rods I want other categories such as rod building and rod repair. And so it sounds real simple except Word Press is not idiot friendly. I work for awhile and what I think I am doing is not what I started. Other things get moved and I don't know what I did wrong.

I am almost convinced that programmers and software designers purposely make all of this real confusing so us dummies have to hire them to do it for us. The more I try the more frustrated I get. They won't get me! I will not pay someone to push some click that is hidden somewhere on the page! These software companies need to stop hiring so many geniuses. They would do better to hire a dumstick like me and if I can't figure it out, it is too complicated. With that metric, they would sell more software.

 I am about to start a Blog titled stevie's nightmares trying to build a website. I could show video's of me doing evil things to my computer with large hammers and chainsaws.

Look dudes and dudets, Why can't you make a website editing page look like the website? Why does it have to be something totally different? When I go to a page and click "edit", I want to see that page and edit it from that page instead of going to someplace else and not seeing the immediate results of my edit! How hard is that?

 Bust the page up into blocks. Let me edit the size of the blocks and the content of the blocks. I played with blocks as a child. I could still be good at it. You could make a fortune on us dummies if you made building websites something easy for anyone to do.

 When I click edit, I want to see my webpage as it is except everything outlined as blocks. And than when I click on that block, I want to be able to do anything with the content of that specific block without affecting anything else on the page. 

I built a big house from the ground up, why is it so hard to build a website?

Besides an idiot unfriendly editing system my own basic problem is a poor understanding of the differences between, posts, pages, and categories. After several hours today I am having minor success. The web tutorials leave a lot to be desired. The audio is poor and once again they assume the viewer has a clue. I got into one set of tutorials and all it did was keep bouncing me around between links and more links. Click on the link and get another page of links. "really".
